The gift of helping others online will help you increase your community and give you a good reputation on social media.
The holidays are a time for giving and receiving, while most people are on vacation this is the opportune time to be reaching out to others either to help them or to wish them a new years cheer. Start by helping a fellow human being, while it can be inconvenient, has a few humble advantages:
- It makes you feel better about yourself;
- It connects you with another person, at least for a moment, if not for life;
- It improves the life of another, at least a little;
- It makes the world a better place, one little step at a time;
- And if that kindness is passed on, it can multiply, and multiply.
Here are 4 ways to give during this holiday season:
1 Be a good citizen
As you know by now cats are the number one animals shared on social media channels. Helping animal shelters or sharing animal stories of love can easily increase your likeability and share ability for posts online. There are so many things you can do, here are some ideas:
- Offer your doggy sitting services to someone in your community and blog about the experience.
- Film a video of you feeding the homeless dogs and post it online.
- Adopt an animal (dog, cat, hamster, etc..)/ or help others adopt dogs/cats from your nearest rescue kennel/shelter.
2 Support your local association
A good way to help your local associations is by volunteering your time. This has many benefits including; helping you increase your friends (social circles), make new contacts, increase your social networks and improve your relationship skills. It will also help you to Increases self-confidence, sense of purpose and stay physically healthy. In doing so you will be provided career experience, referrals and help amplify the happiness effect in your life.
3 Teach & share
Take the time to teach someone a skill you know. Use repurposed content to help do so if you don’t have much time. Repurposed content is full of useful information and saves you time from creating it yourself. Help promote bloggers, writers and experts in your community. Teach others how to do their job better or helping solve their problems with your set of knowledge and/or skills. As a bonus, it shows that you are supporting your community members and influencers.
4 Send nice emails
Sending nice emails has become a lost art. Don’t spam people with generic messages, actually reach out to your customers, influencers, community and suppliers by sending them personalized thank you emails or greeting cards for the holidays. Remember that this is the season of giving thanks to all those who impact your work and your life. Your community is a big part of your brands support system, don’t forget to remind them.
